No Reserve - Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch "First Omega In Space" (FOIS) 39.7MM Black Dial Leather Strap (311.32.40.30.01.001)
The seller represents this timepiece as being in very good condition. It includes the boxes (inner and outer), a Pictograms card, and additional items.
The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch (311.32.40.30.01.001) was originally released and sold exclusively on a brown leather strap. Unlike many other Speedmaster models, there is no direct equivalent "First Omega in Space" reference number that comes factory-fitted with a steel bracelet. It is deeply woven with The Legacy of Wally Schirra in Omega’s space history: in 1962, astronaut Walter “Wally” Schirra wore his personal Omega Speedmaster CK2998 during the Sigma 7 mission of the Mercury-Atlas 8 program, marking the first time an Omega reached orbit and setting the stage for the Speedmaster’s enduring association with space exploration. Inspired by this milestone, Omega has created a Numbered Edition Speedmaster “First Omega in Space” (FOIS) that pays tribute to the original, combining vintage aesthetics with modern precision — a design widely regarded as one of the most wearable and elegant interpretations of the Speedmaster Moonwatch. Its design highlights include a refined 39.7 mm steel case with symmetric straight lugs (a nod to the pre-Professional era) and a scratch-resistant crystal with anti-reflective treatment; a classic black dial with three sub-dials and iconic “Alpha” hands distinguishing it from the standard Moonwatch; and a manual-wind chronograph movement directly descended from the calibres that went to the Moon. Fitted on its original brown calfskin leather strap with beige stitching and a steel buckle, the FOIS delivers a warm, vintage-inspired look that appeals to both collectors and connoisseurs alike. The rarest examples — especially historically linked pieces — have commanded strong prices at auction—bid now!
